What it is

Walking Protocol is an agreed rule for where and how the sub walks in relation to their Dom. The Dom may choose a side, a distance, a pace, who enters first, or what the sub does when they stop. It can be obvious at a kink event or subtle enough to look like ordinary courtesy in public.

Why it is submissive

The sub follows the Dom’s movement instead of choosing their place and pace independently. They watch for changes in speed, direction, or position and adjust without overtaking or drifting away. The Dom leads where the pair goes and decides the physical order between them.

Why people may like it

Walking protocol can carry the dynamic through shared space without constant spoken commands. Being one step behind or on a chosen side may feel deferential, possessive, protective, or simply like belonging in a specific place. The need to track the Dom’s movement keeps the sub attentive. Doms may enjoy being followed and feeling the sub respond smoothly as they move together.

Ways to run it

One Step Behind
The sub walks slightly behind the Dom and adjusts their speed without overtaking or falling too far back.
Chosen Side
The sub remains on the Dom’s selected left or right side throughout the outing or event.
Walk Beside Me
The sub stays level with the Dom while watching for changes in pace, direction, or service cues.
Stop and Wait
When the Dom stops, the sub takes an agreed standing or kneeling position until movement resumes.
Discreet Public Protocol
The pair uses ordinary-looking placement and subtle cues that keep the dynamic private around other people.

How this task works

Walking Protocol is a protocol from the protocol & positions chart. This is an in-person task — it needs you and your Dom in the same room. It's a kink task — charged with power exchange, though not explicit.

Beginner-friendly: a good early assignment in a new dynamic. Standard care applies: negotiate first, agree on limits, and check in afterward.
