What it is

Recite Your Rules is a memory and understanding task in which the sub states the rules and protocols currently in force. The sub may be asked to explain when each rule applies, what it requires, and anything they do not fully understand. It is not a Daily Obedience Report, which records what happened that day; this task checks whether the existing rules are actually known.

Why it is submissive

The sub demonstrates that they have paid attention to the expectations they agreed to follow and accepts correction when their understanding is incomplete. The Dom chooses which rules are tested and confirms what each one means. Honest uncertainty is part of the task; the sub is not expected to pretend that an unclear rule makes sense.

Why people may like it

Recitation can make a rule set feel active instead of buried in an old conversation or document. Some subs enjoy the pressure of being tested and the satisfaction of answering correctly. Others value finding confusion before it becomes a missed expectation. Doms may enjoy seeing what the sub has retained, clarifying their standards, and recognizing genuine effort with praise or further instruction.

Ways to run it

Full Rule Recitation
The sub states every active rule in the agreed order and explains when each one applies.
Selected Rule Test
The Dom chooses several rules to test rather than requiring the entire list at once.
Scenario Questions
The Dom describes a situation and the sub identifies the rule or protocol that governs it.
Written or Recorded Recitation
The sub submits the rules in writing or by voice note when the partners are apart.
Explain the Purpose
After stating each rule, the sub explains what it is intended to accomplish in the dynamic.

How this task works

Recite Your Rules is a training from the protocol & positions chart. It works in person or apart, so long-distance dynamics can run it too. It's a nonsexual task: structure and submission, no sexual content required.

Beginner-friendly: a good early assignment in a new dynamic. Standard care applies: negotiate first, agree on limits, and check in afterward.
