Bedtime Permission

Let your Dom decide or approve when you go to bed during the agreed period.

What it is

Bedtime Permission is an ongoing rule that gives the Dom authority over when the sub goes to bed. The Dom may assign a time in advance, approve a request when the sub is ready, or choose within an agreed window. Its defining feature is control over bedtime itself. This differs from a Goodnight Request, which may simply be a formal way to close the day or leave protocol.

Why it is submissive

A routine decision about the sub’s own schedule is brought under the Dom’s direction. The sub reports that they are ready, waits for an answer, or follows the time already chosen for them. The Dom accepts the responsibility of making or approving that decision within the agreed scope. The submission is in following the chosen bedtime, not in proving how long the sub can stay awake.

Why people may like it

Bedtime can feel unusually personal because it closes the sub’s day and affects a private daily rhythm. Some subs enjoy the sense of being managed or sent to bed rather than deciding alone, while others find relief in handing over one repetitive choice. Waiting for permission may add a small amount of suspense, and an assigned time can feel like a final instruction that remains present even when the partners are apart.

Ways to run it

Assigned Bedtime
The Dom chooses a specific bedtime in advance and the sub follows it.
Request When Ready
The sub reports that they are ready for bed and waits for approval.
Bedtime Window
The Dom sets a range, and the sub asks before choosing a time within it.
Permission to Stay Up Later
A normal bedtime remains in place unless the sub requests and receives an extension.
Long-Distance Bedtime
The Dom gives or confirms bedtime remotely, and the sub reports when they are going to sleep.

How this task works

Bedtime Permission is a rule from the obedience & permission chart. It's long-distance friendly: messages, photos, or a call are all it takes, which makes it a favorite for online and distance dynamics. It's a nonsexual task: structure and submission, no sexual content required.

Beginner-friendly: a good early assignment in a new dynamic. Standard care applies: negotiate first, agree on limits, and check in afterward.
