What it is
Ask Before Sitting is a movement protocol in which the sub does not take a seat until invited or granted permission. It can apply during one formal interaction, in a particular room, around selected furniture, or throughout a defined protocol period. The rule may also allow the Dom to choose where and how the sub sits. It does not need to govern every setting or every moment.
Why it is submissive
The sub gives up automatic control over their position and comfort while the protocol is active. Instead of assuming access to a chair or sofa, they remain attentive and wait for the Dom to place or release them. The Dom decides when sitting is allowed and may choose the seat, floor, posture, or distance between them.
Why people may like it
This rule makes hierarchy visible through the body rather than through a long conversation or explicit command. Waiting can heighten awareness of the Dom’s presence, and being invited to sit may feel like a favor or release. Some subs enjoy being kept at the Dom’s feet or placed exactly where wanted. Doms may like the immediate visual effect of controlling posture, space, and access to comfort.
