What it is
Refer to Yourself in the Third Person removes ordinary first-person self-reference for the punishment period. The submissive stops using ordinary first-person pronouns and uses an agreed replacement. That replacement might be their name or a role-based phrase chosen by the Dominant. The rule may apply to speech, writing, or both. Unlike Formal Titles Only, it changes how the sub names themselves rather than how they address the Dominant. Every self-reference has to be consciously rephrased.
What makes it punishing
First-person language is deeply automatic. Replacing it makes even simple sentences take more thought and can make the sub feel conspicuously different from ordinary conversation. Depending on the chosen wording, the change may also feel embarrassing or objectifying because the sub is required to describe themselves from a more distant position.
Why Dominants Choose It
