What it is

Formal Titles Only suspends casual forms of address during the punishment period. The submissive must use the agreed title whenever speaking to or directly addressing the Dominant. The title might be Sir or Ma'am, or another formal name chosen by the pair. Unlike Third Person, the rule does not change how the submissive refers to themselves. It changes the verbal relationship between them by making every address deliberately formal.

What makes it punishing

Casual names usually carry ease and familiarity. Losing them can make every exchange feel more formal than the sub would prefer. They have to remember the title each time and hear themselves mark the difference in rank. For someone used to relaxed speech with their Dom, that repeated formality can feel humbling or emotionally distancing.

Why Dominants Choose It

Titles make authority audible. A Dominant can increase the formality of the relationship without removing conversation or adding physical discomfort.
