Punishment No. 164 of 204
No Eye Contact
Forbid direct eye contact with the Dominant for an agreed punishment period.
What it is
No Eye Contact requires the submissive to keep their gaze away from the Dominant's eyes during the punishment period. They may be told to look down, keep their eyes below the Dom's face, or wait for permission before looking up. The sub can still see and move normally. Unlike a blindfold, vision itself is not removed. The restriction is specifically on meeting the Dominant's gaze and receiving that direct visual connection.
What makes it punishing
Eye contact is one of the quickest ways to seek acknowledgment and read another person's response. Losing it can make the sub feel conspicuously lower in the interaction. They may hear the Dom speaking and want to look up, yet have to keep their gaze down until the restriction is lifted.
Why Dominants Choose It
A lowered gaze makes deference visible the moment the submissive enters the Dominant's presence. No equipment is needed, and conversation can continue normally while the hierarchy remains obvious. The Dom also controls something emotionally charged: when direct visual acknowledgment returns. That can make the eventual permission to look up feel significant and gives the punishment a clear beginning and release.
Ways to run it
- Eyes Down
- The submissive keeps their gaze lowered whenever they are directly in the Dominant’s presence.
- Permission to Look Up
- Direct eye contact is allowed only after the Dominant explicitly grants permission to look up.
- Correction Only
- The no-eye-contact rule applies during the disciplinary conversation and ends when the correction is closed.
- Below the Face
- The sub may look toward the Dominant but must keep their gaze below the eyes.
- Formal Protocol Period
- Eyes-down behavior remains active through a defined period of stricter protocol after the punishment begins.
How this punishment works
No Eye Contact is from the speech & communication restrictions category. This is an in-person punishment — it needs you and your Dom in the same room. It's a kink punishment — charged with power exchange, though not explicit.
Beginner-friendly: a possible early consequence in a new dynamic.
