Hold an Object in Position
Hold an assigned object in a fixed position until the Dominant declares the punishment complete.
Extra care required. This punishment carries more risk than standard play. Make sure both people understand the specific activity, agree on limits and intensity beforehand, and have a clear way to stop.
What it is
This punishment requires the submissive to hold an object exactly where the Dominant specifies for a set period. A book or tray might be held straight ahead. Another light object may be placed overhead or at shoulder height. The object is central because it adds a load or a visible standard that must be preserved. Unlike an arms-out punishment, the sub is responsible for both posture and the position of something external.
What makes it punishing
As fatigue builds, the object turns every sag or tremor into something visible. The sub cannot quietly relax the arms without also lowering, tilting, or dropping what they were told to hold. That adds a small sense of responsibility to the discomfort. The punishment is not merely enduring tired muscles; it is keeping the Dominant’s chosen standard intact while those muscles tire.
Why Dominants Choose It
An object gives the Dominant a concrete focal point for the correction. Instead of judging an abstract amount of effort, the Dom can watch whether the assigned item stays where it belongs. A book may need to remain level. A tray may need to stay steady. Something ordinary becomes a disciplinary tool simply because the Dominant has decided exactly how it must be held.
Ways to run it
- Book Held Forward
- A book is held straight ahead with both arms, turning an ordinary object into a visible endurance standard.
- Level Tray Hold
- The sub keeps a light tray level, making steadiness and orientation as important as arm endurance.
- Overhead Object Hold
- A light agreed object remains overhead, combining the external load with a raised-arm posture.
- Single-Hand Hold
- One hand supports the assigned object while the Dominant specifies the exact height or position to maintain.
- Shoulder-Height Hold
- The object stays at shoulder height in both hands, giving the Dom an easy reference for sagging.
How this punishment works
Hold an Object in Position is from the positions & physical endurance category. This is an in-person punishment — it needs you and your Dom in the same room. It's a nonsexual punishment: structure and consequence, no sexual content required.
Intermediate: best once you've built trust, protocol, and a track record together.
