What it is
A timeout places the sub in a chosen location or sustainable position for a short, defined period without entertainment, unnecessary conversation, or unrelated activity. The pair should agree on the duration or ending cue, what communication remains available, and what happens when the timeout is over. The sub must still be able to report pain, distress, safety issues, or urgent needs. It is a bounded consequence, not open-ended silence or abandonment.
Why it is submissive
The sub accepts temporary loss of stimulation, attention, and control over how the period is spent. They remain in the agreed place until the timer or Dom ends the task rather than distracting themselves or negotiating repeatedly. The Dom defines the timeout and is responsible for returning, ending it, and restoring ordinary communication afterward.
Why people may like it
