Task No. 112 of 282
Clean and Inspect the Gear
Clean, dry, inspect, and report the condition of every item assigned before the scene begins.
What it is
Care for each assigned item according to its material and manufacturer instructions, then inspect it before use. Cleaning may differ for silicone, metal, leather, rope, fabric, electronics, or porous materials. The sub checks for residue, cracks, fraying, rust, sharp edges, failed fasteners, battery damage, or other wear. Unsafe gear is separated and reported rather than quietly repaired, substituted, or returned to the scene bag.
Why it is submissive
The sub accepts responsibility for the condition of equipment connected to the dynamic and gives the Dom an accurate report. That includes defects that may cancel an anticipated activity. The service is not proving that every item can be used; it is protecting the Dom’s choices by making the true condition of the gear visible.
Why people may like it
Gear care can feel like stewardship rather than ordinary cleaning. A sub may enjoy learning the materials, maintaining objects associated with meaningful scenes, and returning them ready for the Dom’s hand. Inspection also rewards quiet competence: catching a worn strap or damaged surface may never look dramatic, but it protects the scene. Presenting restored, organized equipment can carry pride and a sense of trusted responsibility.
Ways to run it
- Pre-Scene Checklist
- Each item is cleaned, dried, inspected, and marked ready or unavailable before setup begins.
- Material-by-Material Care
- The sub groups equipment by material and uses the appropriate care method for each group.
- Monthly Maintenance Session
- Frequently used gear receives a scheduled deeper inspection, conditioning, battery check, or storage review.
- Damage Quarantine
- Questionable items are labeled, removed from use, and presented with a clear description of the problem.
- Formal Gear Presentation
- The sub returns each cleaned item to the Dom and reports its condition aloud.
How this task works
Clean and Inspect the Gear is a service from the scene preparation chart. This is an in-person task — it needs you and your Dom in the same room. It's a kink task — charged with power exchange, though not explicit.
Beginner-friendly: a good early assignment in a new dynamic. Standard care applies: negotiate first, agree on limits, and check in afterward.
