Task No. 182 of 282
Tell Your Dom What You Need
State one emotional, practical, or sexual need directly instead of waiting for your Dom to guess it.
What it is
The sub chooses one current need and states it directly, including enough context for the Dom to understand what is happening and what response might help. The need may be emotional, practical, relational, or sexual: reassurance, rest, touch, space, clearer structure, more information, help with a problem, or a change in intimacy. The task asks for honesty and specificity, not a guarantee that the exact requested solution will be possible.
Why it is submissive
Clear needs give the Dom information they cannot obtain through authority or intuition alone. The sub accepts the vulnerability of asking without disguising the need as a hint, test, or silent resentment. They leave the Dom room to respond, negotiate, explain a limit, or propose another solution while keeping the underlying need visible.
Why people may like it
Saying a need plainly can bring relief after spending time hoping the Dom will notice on their own. Some subs fear that asking makes them less submissive, so doing it successfully can replace that fear with a stronger sense of honesty and safety. The Dom benefits from knowing which problem actually needs attention instead of reacting to distance, frustration, or changed behavior without context. Even when the first solution is not possible, the conversation can become much more useful.
Ways to run it
- One-Sentence Need
- The sub states the need in one direct sentence before adding any explanation or proposed solution.
- Need Plus Context
- The sub explains what has been happening, how it is affecting them, and why the need matters now.
- Two Possible Solutions
- The sub offers two realistic responses that might help while leaving the final decision with the Dom.
- Written Request
- The need is shared in writing when speaking spontaneously would make the sub minimize or lose the point.
- Scheduled Needs Conversation
- The couple sets aside a defined time so the disclosure is not squeezed into conflict, work, or a scene.
How this task works
Tell Your Dom What You Need is a communication task from the communication, journaling & disclosure chart. It works in person or apart, so long-distance dynamics can run it too. It's a nonsexual task: structure and submission, no sexual content required.
Beginner-friendly: a good early assignment in a new dynamic. Standard care applies: negotiate first, agree on limits, and check in afterward.
