What it is
Sent to Another Room is a punishment in which the submissive is directed to leave the shared space and remain elsewhere for a bounded period. They may be sent to a bedroom, quiet room, or another agreed place and told when they may return. Unlike Corner Time, the point is not facing a particular spot. The defining feature is separation from the Dominant or from whatever the sub would otherwise be part of.
What makes it punishing
For a sub who values closeness and attention, being dismissed can land harder than being given something active to do. They lose access to the Dominant’s presence, the conversation, and the shared moment. The punishment can create a sharp feeling of having been temporarily removed from where they want to be, especially when returning requires an invitation.
Why Dominants Choose It
This punishment lets the Dominant use distance itself as the message. Sending the sub away can communicate displeasure more starkly than another lecture, because the sub immediately feels a change in their place and access.
