What it is

No Social Media temporarily removes agreed forms of recreational scrolling, posting, or browsing. The restriction may apply to one platform or several, and necessary work accounts or important communication remain outside it. Unlike a broad phone ban, the submissive can still use their device for ordinary practical purposes. The punishment targets the habit and entertainment of social platforms rather than access to technology as a whole.

What makes it punishing

Social media is often checked automatically in spare moments. Removing it turns those small habits into repeated reminders that the privilege is gone. The sub may feel bored, disconnected from a favorite feed, or frustrated by not being able to post or browse when the impulse appears. The consequence can therefore surface many times across a single day.

Why Dominants Choose It

This punishment can make authority felt through a habit the sub normally controls almost without thought. A narrow platform restriction may be enough to create friction without shutting down the person's digital life. The Dom may also value its persistence: every instinctive reach for the app creates another moment in which the submissive has to honor the restriction they were given.

Ways to run it

One-Platform Ban
A single social platform is unavailable while other online activity continues normally.
No Scrolling
The submissive may answer necessary messages but cannot browse social feeds.
No Posting
Reading remains allowed, but the submissive cannot make posts or stories during the punishment.
Evening Offline
Recreational social media stops for one defined evening and returns afterward.
Until Check-In
Access resumes after the next agreed conversation or disciplinary review is complete.

How this punishment works

No Social Media is from the privilege & reward loss category. It's long-distance friendly: messages, photos, or a call are all it takes, which makes it usable for online and distance dynamics. It's a nonsexual punishment: structure and consequence, no sexual content required.

Beginner-friendly: a possible early consequence in a new dynamic.
