What it is
Ask Before Free-Time Activities requires the submissive to check with the Dominant before starting covered leisure activities during the punishment period. Gaming, scrolling, reading, or television might all be included. The Dom may approve the request, suggest something else, or say not yet. Unlike full free-time control, the submissive still proposes what they want to do. The punishment is having to ask before acting on that choice.
What makes it punishing
Free time usually feels like the part of the day that belongs entirely to the individual. Requiring permission interrupts that sense of freedom. The sub has to stop at the moment they want to relax and make their choice subject to someone else's answer. Even a yes still carries the reminder that leisure was not theirs to start automatically.
Why Dominants Choose It
This gives the Dominant repeated authority without banning relaxation altogether. The sub can still have free time, but access to it passes through the Dom first. That makes the consequence easy to carry across a whole evening or day. It can also suit a correction involving procrastination or disappearing into leisure before responsibilities were handled.
