Task No. 154 of 282
Memorize Your Rules
Learn the active rules well enough to recite them and explain what each one requires.
What it is
Memorizing the rules is the study process that happens before the sub is asked to recite or apply them. The sub works from the current rule list, repeatedly recalls the rules without looking, and checks mistakes against the source. They also learn the scope, exceptions, and purpose of each rule so the words are connected to real situations. Any rule the sub cannot explain should be clarified rather than memorized as an empty phrase.
Why it is submissive
The sub takes responsibility for knowing the expectations they agreed to follow instead of depending on the Dom to repeat them constantly. They accept correction when memory or interpretation differs from the Dom’s intent and keep reviewing until the rules can be used reliably. The Dom confirms the active version and resolves ambiguity.
Why people may like it
Knowing the rules well can make obedience feel more confident and immediate. Some subs enjoy the pressure of active recall and the satisfaction of recovering a rule without checking the list. The process can also expose unclear wording or forgotten exceptions before they cause a real conflict. Doms may appreciate fewer accidental misses and greater confidence that the sub understands the expectation rather than merely recognizing the sentence.
Ways to run it
- Flashcard Study
- Each card names a rule on one side and its meaning, scope, or exception on the other.
- Write From Memory
- The sub writes the active rules without looking, then corrects every missing or inaccurate part.
- Scenario Quiz
- The Dom describes a situation and the sub identifies which rule applies and what it requires.
- Spaced Weekly Recall
- Short recall sessions are repeated across several weeks rather than compressed into one long study period.
- Explain in Plain Language
- The sub restates every rule in their own words and identifies anything that still needs clarification.
How this task works
Memorize Your Rules is a training from the training & skill building chart. It works in person or apart, so long-distance dynamics can run it too. It's a nonsexual task: structure and submission, no sexual content required.
Beginner-friendly: a good early assignment in a new dynamic. Standard care applies: negotiate first, agree on limits, and check in afterward.
