The sub then learns the maker’s guidance for removing dust, cleaning, conditioning or polishing when appropriate, protecting the hardware, and storing the item without crushing or drying it. Any new product should be tested in an inconspicuous place first. Suede, patent, coated, synthetic, and smooth leathers may require different care, so a generic product should not be applied automatically.
