What it is
Hands Tied is a restraint punishment that removes the submissive’s normal use of their hands. The wrists may be secured together in front or behind the body, held overhead, or attached separately to furniture. The defining feature is simple: the sub cannot freely reach, touch, adjust, or use their hands until released. It is narrower than a box tie or armbinder, which control much more of the arms and upper body.
What makes it punishing
Hands are involved in almost everything people do without thinking. Once they are unavailable, small needs become frustrating. An itch cannot be scratched easily. Clothing cannot be adjusted freely, and anything out of reach stays out of reach. The sub has to live with that loss of independence until the Dominant decides they have had enough.
Why Dominants Choose It
This punishment makes control immediate without requiring an elaborate setup. A Dominant can take away one of the sub’s most useful freedoms while leaving the rest of the body relatively unrestricted. That can create a particularly clear message: the sub is still capable of moving around, but something as basic as what they do with their own hands now depends on the Dom’s permission.
