What it is

The sub enters prey headspace and responds to the Dom as someone being watched, approached, hunted, or claimed. The agreed response might be backing away, freezing, hiding, running, struggling, or surrendering only after the Dom closes the distance. The pair decides in advance which forms of fear, resistance, touch, biting, scratching, and capture belong in the scene. Unlike pet play, the prey is not acting as a domesticated animal or following a Handler’s training.

Why it is submissive

The prey does not have to cooperate immediately in order to submit. Instead, the sub gives the Dom permission to pursue and overcome resistance that has been deliberately built into the scene. The final surrender can feel earned because the Dom has to take control rather than simply request it.

Why people may like it

Prey play can strip away polished conversation and make attention feel direct and instinctive. Some subs enjoy being watched with intense focus, feeling fear inside a structure they chose, or expressing resistance without actually rejecting the Dom. Others like the dramatic shift from flight or defiance into stillness and surrender. Doms may enjoy reading the prey’s body and deciding when to stalk, rush, corner, or claim them.

Ways to run it

Stalking Prey
The Dom approaches slowly while the prey watches, retreats, hides, or freezes.
Flight and Freeze
The prey alternates between running away and becoming completely still when cornered.
Defiant Prey
The prey growls, resists, or taunts within the exact physical limits agreed beforehand.
Quiet Surrender
The scene ends when the prey stops resisting and takes the chosen surrender posture.
Prey With a Safe Zone
One marked area pauses the hunt and allows the sub to reset or end the scene.

How this task works

Play the Prey is a scene task from the primal, capture & interrogation chart. This is an in-person task — it needs you and your Dom in the same room. It's a kink task — charged with power exchange, though not explicit.

Intermediate: best once you've built trust, protocol, and a track record together. Standard care applies: negotiate first, agree on limits, and check in afterward.
