Remain blindfolded for an assigned period and give up the ability to see what is happening.
Extra care required. This punishment carries more risk than standard play. Make sure both people understand the specific activity, agree on limits and intensity beforehand, and have a clear way to stop.
What it is
Blindfolded is a punishment in which the submissive has their sight deliberately blocked for a set period. A sleep mask or purpose-built blindfold may be used, and the sub may simply wait or remain blindfolded during another agreed correction. Unlike broader sensory deprivation, only vision has to be removed. The defining feature is that the submissive cannot look around, watch the Dominant, or decide when they are ready to see again.
What makes it punishing
Losing sight takes away certainty. The sub cannot watch the Dominant’s movements, check what is nearby, or prepare visually for what comes next. Even an otherwise quiet punishment can feel longer when the room has disappeared. The frustration comes from knowing that seeing again is simple, but not currently theirs to choose.
Why Dominants Choose It
Blindfolding lets a Dominant control information without immobilizing the whole body. The sub can still hear, speak, and feel, but one of their main ways of anticipating the Dom has been removed. That makes uncertainty do much of the work. A Dominant may also value how little action is required once the blindfold is in place: the sub keeps experiencing the restriction until sight is returned.
Ways to run it
- Blindfolded Waiting
- The sub remains blindfolded with no added activity, making darkness, uncertainty, and waiting the entire consequence.
- Blindfolded Inspection
- The Dominant examines or repositions the sub while sight stays blocked, removing the ability to watch the inspection happen.
- Unknown Timing
- The sub knows the agreed maximum duration but is not told exactly when the Dominant will restore their sight.
- Blindfold During Correction
- The blindfold stays on during another separately agreed punishment, taking away the sub’s ability to anticipate it visually.
- Permission to Remove
- After the minimum period ends, the sub must ask before lifting the blindfold and returning to normal vision.
